Caribbean Cruises

Onshore Adventures in the Caribbean

The chance to take in the delights and pleasures of the Caribbean is an opportunity to be fully experienced. Facilities on board cruise ships are excellent, but there is a danger of missing out on all that the Caribbean islands have to offer. Here are a few places and onshore activities which are bound to add to the excitement and pleasure of your Caribbean cruise.

If you're in Jamaica, be sure to check out Ocho Rios. If you're feeling up to the physical challenge, you could climb the famous Dunn's River Falls, where you'll witness a spectacular scene: 600 feet of sparkling water cascading over jade rocks into aquamarine pools below.

If you're a fan of watersports, you could kayak from the Laughing Waters Lagoon to James Bond Beach. This beach is well known for its fresh fish and seafood, but it's most famous as the place where the Dr No, the first James Bond film, was made. The beach is amazing: surrounded on three sides by clear blue waters and set against the background of the majestic mountains of St Mary. You might want to take the time to visit the Golden Eye Villa, where Ian Fleming wrote the James Bond novels...

Another option is to visit one or more of the ABC islands: Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. Aruba is situated just off the coast of Venezuela, and offers virtually unrivaled shopping opportunities in its capital, Oranjestad. You'll be aware of the relaxed Dutch influence when you see the windmills and gingerbread coloured dwellings and you'll also get the chance to see an old gold mine... nature lovers will love the tropical birds and lizards in the Arikok National Wildlife Park. Whichever options you choose, you'll have a wonderful time and beautiful memories of islands you'll want to come back to again and again!
